nne Thomas, former general secretary of Canadian Yearly Meeting, has accepted an invitation to speak at Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in July at DeSales University (formerly Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales).
The title selected for her talk is: "This I know experimentally telling our faith stories." Knowing "experimentally" or "experientially" is a fundamental claim of Quakers but we do not always follow through and share our experiences. These shared personal stories are the "faith" part of our discipline; our collective practice, at its best, flows from these.
Anne Thomas is a member of Halifax Monthly Meeting in Nova Scotia. After many years' service as general secretary of Canadian Yearly Meeting, she is now enjoying observing the Atlantic ocean on a daily basis and viewing good, bad and indifferent movies about Jesus. Her broad involvement with Friends includes work with Friends United Meeting, Bible study presentations for several Monthly and Yearly Meetings, and the 1995 Swarthmore Lecture to Britain Yearly Meeting.
