riends in Haddonfield Quarterly Meeting are planning for a more visible Quaker presence in Camden, New Jersey, a city plagued by drugs, violence and corruption. A program is planned for 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at the Newton Meeting on Cooper Street between Haddon Avenue and Eighth Street in Camden.
Three members of the Washington, D.C., Peace and Economic Justice Program of the American Friends Service Committee will explain that program, which started when Friends in the Washington area wanted to strengthen the Quaker presence in that city. A discussion will follow about what insights New Jersey Friends can gather from the Washington experience as they seek to be more involved in Camden.
All interested persons are invited to attend March 18. A simple lunch will be provided at 1:30 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of Haddonfield Quarter. If you have questions, call Haddonfield staff person Priscilla Adams at 609-835-4285.
