The sixth PYM Women's Gathering will be April 20-22 at Burlington Meeting House Conference Center in Burlington, New Jersey. Sponsored by the PYM Women's Gathering Group, the event will return to the popular intergenerational format, which brings together
adult, high school and middle school friends for a weekend of worship, fun, and relaxed community-building.
This year's theme is "Integrity: Living our Truth as Women and Girls." Using art, movement, worship-sharing and more we will seek out what interferes with and what empowers us to find, free and live our truths. Leading us will be Roswitha Jarman and Jennifer Elam.
Roswitha Jarman will join us from her home in England. She has served as a Quaker representative in Moscow and an Alternatives to Violence Project facilitator among the diverse ethnic groups of the former Soviet Bloc countries. She is currently involved with training Chechen teachers who work with war-traumatized children. Roswitha was born in German South-West Africa, now Namibia, but spent her childhood in East Germany. With her husband, Peter, Roswitha has been a Friend in Residence at Pendle Hill.
Jennifer Elam is a psychologist who has opened to the healing power of art and movement. She recently founded the Listening Center at Springfield Meeting (PA). She has published the Pendle Hill pamphlet "Dancing with God Through the Storm." Sojourning at Media Meeting (PA), Jennifer is a member of Beria Friends Meeting in Kentucky.
The weekend will include Afghan-making, Reiki, singing, toning circles and wonderful walks. Bring a friend, a grandmother, a mother, a daughter, a niece! Bring stories of finding, freeing and living your truth.
