A Ministry of Prayer and Learning Devoted to the School of the Spirit, a project of the PYM Meeting on Worship and Ministry, announces its future programming.
The ministry is probably most widely known for the program "On Being a Spiritual Nurturer," which has been offered four times in its ten-year history -- twice as a year-long program, and twice over two years. This program will be offered again as a two-year program beginning in February 2002 with Michael Green and Barbarajene Williams as core teachers, supported by over 20 visiting teachers. For those who wish to learn more about the program or wish an introduction to spiritual nurture, Michael and Barbarajene will lead two optional weekends in 2001. These weekends will have the rhythm and form of a Spiritual Nurturer program residency in shortened form with topics for study, practice and reflection. These weekends will be at the Glenagape Retreat Center near Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 27-29, 2001 (cost $125), and at the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Aston, Pennsylvania, on September 14-16, 2001 (cost $225).
Another tradition of the Ministry's programming is Silent Retreats. In 2001, these will be held at Powell House near Albany, New York, on January 26-28, led by Linda Chidsey (cost $145); and at Aircastle in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania on May 4-6 and October 5-7, led by Nancy Berchtold (cost $50).
Further details of the ministry's programming is contained on the website at http://quaker.org/sosministry/
and in a brochure available from Michael Green by calling 919-929-2339 or e-mailing <mgreen@mindspring.com>. A detailed brochure for the program "On Being a Spiritual Nurturer" will be available in mid-February.This ministry is devoted to helping all who wish to be more faithful listeners and responders to the inward work of Christ.
