Theology workshop offered for Quakers

RETURN TO TABLE OF CONTENTS

A weekend workshop/seminar offering an intensive introduction to the discipline of theology for Quakers will take place January 12-14, 2001, in State College, Pennsylvania. It's sponsored by QUEST, Quaker Ecumenical Seminars in Theology, which is under the care of the Advancement and Outreach Committee of State College Meeting.

The seminar facilitators will be Chuck Fager and Ann Riggs, two Friends who have studied theology. The seminar announcement says, "Theology is a key part of Adult Religious Education. We believe Friends can benefit greatly from making use of theological concepts and tools for thinking through the issues we face today. We also believe more theological awareness would enable Friends to better join in the many ecumenical and interfaith dialogues under way today. Friends are now much less fully represented in these forums than we rightly should be."

The program will be a concentrated, non-technical introduction to theological terms and ideas, and application of these ideas to contemporary issues in Quaker theology. The goal is to enable participants to continue Quaker theological study on their own and in their Meetings. Discussion and dialogue will be welcomed.

For schedule details and registration information, go to the web site http://www.quaker.org/quest or write to QUEST, PO Box 82, Bellefonte PA 16823 E-mail: quest@quaker.org.
