his past July, six official representatives of PYM (as well as several other Yearly Meeting members) joined 260 Friends from 40 different countries for a week-long gathering the 20th Triennial session of the Friends World Committee for Consultation held at Geneva Point Center on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
Throughout the week, the theme "Friends: a people called to listen, gathered to seek, sent forth to serve" provided a framework for exploring our spiritual connections. There were many opportunities for worship, worship sharing, and interest groups, in addition to business sessions. A highlight was the plenary session where Simon Lamb from Ireland Yearly Meeting shared his vision of the strengths and weaknesses within the modern Religious Society of Friends and shared openly about the different spiritual practices which empower him. The week was a deeply enriching time where the participants experienced their differences as sources of strength rather than conflict.
The following Friends will be happy to visit Meetings within Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to share their experiences at the Triennial and talk about FWCC. They want everyone in the Yearly Meeting to know more about FWCC and the wider world of Friends. Please feel free to invite any one of them to visit your Meeting.
