fter two years of administrative service for PYM Education Programs, Janet MacColl Nicholson of Media Meeting (PA) has moved on to teaching in our Friends school community. Juggling two part-time positions, Janet has begun a post teaching Quakerism to high-schoolers at Westtown School as well as being story-teller at West Chester Friends School. During Janet's time on staff at PYM, she contributed greatly to the stability of the Education office and to a sense of community among staff. Janet's enormous gifts of energy, intellect and spiritual nurture will be greatly missed at the PYM office, but they have doubtless already been a great benefit to children in these two school communities. Janet's own children attend Media-Providence Friends School.
Stepping into the position of Administrative Assistant for Education Programs in September, Elke Muller has brought new meaning to the term "quick study." It helped a great deal that Elke had been working at PYM as interim library assistant. She was able to step into the flow of things at the start of a new school year without missing a step. Elke brings a wealth of experience from her background as a seasoned administrative assistant for the Pew Charitable Trusts. Recently becoming an active attender at Central Philadelphia Meeting, Elke is eager to learn more about our Religious Society.
Tom Hoopes, PYM Coordinator of Education, has been grateful for Elke's professional expertise and for the evident ease with which she is learning the labyrinthine complexities of PYM Education Programs. The timing has been a great blessing for the Education Programs office, given that Tom's wife Elizabeth Castiglione gave birth to their first child, Robert Jacob Hoopes, on October 21 and Tom was taking some paternity leave.
