Quaker historian speaking about slavery

RETURN TO TABLE OF CONTENTS

Emma Jones Lapsansky will speak on "Woolman's Legacy of Truth: Benjamin Coates and the Slavery Question" at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, at the Moorestown Meetinghouse (NJ). A simple reception will follow the lecture.

Emma is Professor of History and Curator of the Quaker Collection at Haverford College. She has written on Quaker and Black cultural influence, especially in 19th century Philadelphia. Her lively intelligence and infectious curiosity are joined with an interest in historical interpretation for popular audiences.

The annual Woolman Lecture is a free event sponsored by the John Woolman Memorial Association. The meetinghouse is located at 118 East Main Street in Moorestown, New Jersey. For information and directions, call Jack or Carol Walz at 609-267-3226.
