wo-way communication between Monthly Meetings and PYM is very important ... especially when it concerns how PYM allocates members' contributions! Since the reorganization in1998, the PYM budget process for the next budget year begins with input from the Monthly Meetings.
It is now time for that input, as the Financial Stewardship Committee begins work on the 2001-2002 budget.
In April, Monthly Meeting clerks and treasurers received a copy of the new Budget Survey from PYM's Financial Stewardship Committee. If your meeting has not yet considered its response to this survey, please urge it to do so.
With each survey, we refine, as well as add to, the information we have received in previous years.
This information is shared by the Financial Stewardship Committee with the five Standing Committees which oversee the budgets of all the Working Groups. It is the foundation on which the budget is built.
Last year fewer than half of the Monthly Meetings responded to our survey, but the responses had a consistency which indicated that we could rely on the data. However, the more Monthly Meetings that return the survey, the better we can tailor a budget which meets the concerns rising from Monthly Meetings.
We ask that only one copy of the survey be returned from each Monthly Meeting. It should reflect, so far as possible, the sense of the meeting. We also recognize that responding to our survey requires significant time and energy on the part of a Monthly Meeting. However, we hope that your understanding of its importance to the PYM budget process will make it worth your while.
