Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting will commence a search this summer for a person to fill the position of "Director of Finance" or a similar position. We say "or a similar position" because the departure of the incumbent provides an opportunity to re-examine some aspects of the division of labor among positions in our Accounting Office, and some changes in the position's scope and description may result.
If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested, in this high-level position with PYM to start in October, we would like to hear from you. The successful candidate will have very significant accounting and financial management skills someone who is a CPA or has equivalent training and experience. He or she will also have extensive experience in nonprofit accounting and finance. We hope to find a Quaker, especially because this person will be part of the staff management team. Accounting Clerk
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting is looking for a full time Accounting Clerk to be responsible for processing Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Cash Receipts. This person will also prepare check requests for all taxes and voluntary payroll withholdings as well as prepare quarterly and year-end tax reports.
Desired qualifications include an associate's degree in accounting, or high school graduate with some advanced training and at least 1 year basic bookkeeping including A/P, or equivalent relevant experience. Familiarity with a computerized accounting system and Windows based spreadsheet programs is essential and Excel and MAS*90 experience are preferred. This position works closely with other staff and volunteers. Clear communication, patience and flexibility are important qualities for the successful candidate.

Meetings' Initiatives Coordinator for Peace and Concerns
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting is looking for the right Friend to work among our Meetings to develop Friends' and Meetings' leadings toward work for peace and in the social order. The Meetings' Initiatives Coordinator for Peace and Concerns is a two-year experimental position from July 2000 to June 2002.
This Friend will be a network builder, traveling to visit Meetings, Quarterly Meetings and groups of Friends to assist them and individual Friends as they work together to advance our testimonies for peace and the social order. This Friend will develop and provide information on what is needed for collaboration and advancement of work toward the testimonies. This will involve e-mail lists, database and web site; contacts with others with similar interests; information on assistance available from Yearly Meeting for presenting conferences, obtaining grants, and other specialized assistance.
The Meetings' Initiatives Coordinator will be skilled in listening and in helping others to discern and move forward on their leadings. Because the concerns work of Yearly Meeting must come from the leadings given to members, the Meetings' Initiatives Coordinator will carefully avoid pressing concerns and activities on others, or doing the work for them.
The Friend we are seeking will:
- Be familiar with our testimonies on peace, social justice and conscience.
- Be an active Friend with experience in Quaker process.
- Be free to work many weekends and evenings and to travel to Meetings, some of which are more than 150 miles from Philadelphia.
- Have use of a reliable vehicle.
- Be enthusiastic, clear and ready to serve our spiritual community for an experimental period of two years.
Salary is $24,000 to $27,000 depending on education and experience.

Youth Mediation and Conflict Resolution Specialist

Philadelphia Yearly Meeting seeks a full-time Youth Mediation and Conflict Resolution Specialist to:
- Promote conflict resolution and mediation;
- Relate both to Friends Conflict Resolution Programs and to the Nonviolence and Children Working Group;
- Communicate with Monthly Meetings, public and private schools, and sister organizations to support others who do this creative work;
- Relate across Standing Committee lines to other volunteers and staff doing similar work.
Qualifications:
- College degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience;
- Credentials and experience in mediation and conflict resolution;
- Membership and active participation in our Religious Society strongly preferred;
- Ability to work evenings and weekends;
- Access to a reliable vehicle in which to drive to (sometimes remote) sites for meetings and programs.

Coordinator of Adult Religious Education Programs

Philadelphia Yearly Meeting is seeking a full time Coordinator of Adult Religious Education Programs to:
- inform Friends in PYM about the depth and breadth of adult religious education: Quaker faith and practice, spirituality, history, social concerns and outreach;
- encourage and oversee the development of adult religious education resources; i.e., courses, retreats, curricula, conferences, web page, etc.;
- handle the logistics and publicity of such resources so that they are readily available to monthly meetings in PYM,
- record and maintain information about the needs, strengths, and interests of meetings within PYM when making adult RE contacts, and make referrals to the services available within PYM, particularly those of the Family Relations Concerns Group.
A college degree is preferred; 3-5 years' experience in teaching and organizing adult RE programs is required. The applicant should have a deep commitment to Quakerism as a spiritual tradition, good office skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (word processing, databases, and spreadsheets), and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others. Salary range is from $24,000 to $28,000 depending on experience and education.
