riends will enjoy music, refreshments and fellowship at a Saturday evening coffeehouse planning during Yearly Meeting sessions. The coffeehouse will take place at 9:15 p.m. (after the business session adjourns) Saturday, March 25, in the East Room of the Fourth and Arch Street Meeting House in Philadelphia.
The coffeehouse is being organized by Friends from Gwynedd and Old Haverford meetings (both PA), each of which hosts regular coffeehouses in its community. Both Meetings received grants from PYM's Membership Development Support Fund to help them start up coffeehouses as a form of outreach. They report success. (Learn more about outreach and the MDSF at a conference on April 1. See article.)
Entertainment at Old Haverford has included Celtic balladeer Charlie Zahm, old-time fiddle/guitar duo Greg and Palmer Loux, and singer/swinger/songwriter Tom Grant all Havertown residents. Gwynedd's 8 p.m. coffeehouse presents the Gwynedd Chamber Orchestra on April 1 and Charlie Zahm on May 6. Gwynedd Meeting is located on Route 202 at Sumneytown Pike near North Wales.
PYM News plans a feature spread on Monthly Meeting coffeehouses and other cultural and entertainment events in the May/Summer issue. If your Meeting has a story to tell, please send your writeup by April 1 to PYM News, 1515 Cherry Street, Philadelphia PA 19102 or e-mail allenr@pym.org. You can call Editor Allen Reeder at 215-241-7215.
