riends are invited to join the next excellent clean-up adventure at historic Fair Hill Friends Burial Ground in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. till noon. Hundreds of Friends from dozens of different meetings have over the past decade helped turn this weed-choked site into a calm and peaceful place for neighbors' enjoyment. The area is much cleaner and more drug-free because of our work, says neighbor Peaches Ramos. Jobs will include weeding our daylily bed, picking up trash, and helping clean out a nearby neighborhood garden.
There is still plenty to be done so round up your meeting's best crew. Young Friends are welcome with supervision. Everyone should wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, heavy garden gloves, and bring your favorite gardening tool. Wheelbarrows are always welcome. The burial ground is located on Germantown Avenue, between Cambria and Indiana Streets, in North Philadelphia. For information, call 215-247-3162.
