n Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 17, 2000, there will be a conference on "Educating for the Culture of Peace" at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The United Nations has chosen "The Culture of Peace" as the theme for the year 2000 to emphasize the increasingly complex task of keeping the peace in an evolving world.
This day-long conference is for teachers, school administrators, school board members and other professionals interested in exploring more peaceful alternatives for their settings and our world. Invited speakers include Nobel Peace Prize recipients, public and political figures, officials from the United Nations and its specialized agencies, educators and others actively involved in the pursuit of peace.
