At the Winter Retreat on January 5, 2013, the Young Adult Friends community approved the following minute of appreciation for our outgoing clerk, Colin Bussiere-Nichols.

Colin Bussiere-Nichols, a member of Portland Friends Meeting, New England Yearly Meeting, served as Clerk of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Young Adult Friends Working Group for the past 2 ½ years – from May 2010 to January 2013. Colin brought an important energy and presence to our discernment during a time of transition and upheaval. Alongside others, he worked to secure funding so that support for the spiritual development of Young Adults could continue. His approach to leadership and his nuanced facilitation fed all who encountered him with a degree of levity and humor as well as Spirit. Colin’s eloquence and penetrating knowledge of Quaker Faith and Practice also graced our discernment with wisdom and patience. He brought pastoral awareness and trust to our community. His gifts were valued and as we mourn his movement forward in life, we celebrate what he has given to our community. We hope he will remain with us, giving what he can to the support of Young Adult spirituality. We, the Young Adult Friends community of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, unite in appreciation for Colin Bussiere-Nichols’ service.

The Young Adult Friends community affirmed and approved the designation of Liz Martin of Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting and Zachary Dutton of Wilmington Friends Meeting as the new Young Adult Friends Working Group co-clerks.
