PYM Sessions Planning Group Announces 2012 Theme
PYM Annual Sessions 2012: Living the Holy Experiment
at Arch Street Meetinghouse and other locations in and nearby Philadelphia
July 25-29, 2012
Sessions Planning Group discerned Living the Holy Experiment as the theme for Annual Sessions 2012, in celebration of our Quaker history in Philadelphia, and the ongoing exploration of our witness in the wider world, especially in these times of change. William Penn’s Holy Experiment was about applying religious principles to the work of the world. The colony was to offer religious and civil liberty so that all could live peacefully according to their principles. During these sessions we will explore together -How do we apply our principles to how we live in the world, with one another in community, and how we conduct our business?
Annual Sessions include opportunities for all ages for worship, learning, and fellowship along with the discernment of business. Plans are in the works for lodging, hospitality with local Friends, opportunities to eat, play, learn, and share with one another. Being in Philadelphia opens doors of possibility- to witness to our faith through service, worship, and outreach to the wider world as well as time together, welcoming Friends from throughout the Yearly Meeting to our historical home.
Sessions Planning Group is busy making plans for these sessions. As details are available, they will be posted on the Annual Sessions webpage, where you may also read minutes, epistles and other information from Annual Sessions 2011.
“True godliness does not turn men out of the world, but enables them to live better in it and excites their endeavors to mend it.” William Penn
