New Guidelines Sign-off Form Required for Young Friends!

Young Friends

Over the course of the 2014-2015 school year, PYM Young Friends reviewed and edited all the community’s rules and guidelines to better reflect the needs of the current community. Now that this process is complete, we want to spread the word about what the expectations of the Young Friends community are! To do so, Young Friends approved the creation of a new Guidelines Affirmation form, for both a guardian and Young Friend to sign off on before the Young Friends attends gatherings.

Check out the Young Friends Guidelines Affirmation!

We hope that this practice will increase parent and youth knowledge about standards in the Young Friends community as well as streamlining the guidelines review at the beginning of events. The form covers both the new guidelines, and (on the back of the form) a philosophy and approach to infractions of the guidelines and consequences to such actions, all of which has been approved by the Young Friends community. To learn more about Young Friends’ process around these guidelines, check out Business Meeting minutes from the 2014-2015 year.

As this form is a new requirement for participants and parents, we’re experimenting with the most effective method of getting the word out and getting affirmations returned. For now, we are treating this similarly to our expectations around medical forms, asking for one form for each Young Friend at or before the next gathering they attend. Unlike medical forms, there is no expectation of re-submitting annually – the only case in which families will be expected to renew their affirmation with a new form will be if the guidelines change, or we discern a different method of spreading the word would be more effective (for instance, maybe we’ll have a digital option down the road). We’ll definitely let you know if either of these cases become true! So check out the new Young Friends Guidelines Affirmation and bring it with you to the next gathering or send it to:
