Swarthmore Monthly Meeting
Website: http://swarthmore.quaker.org/
We are a Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) community of spiritual seekers with a foundation in silent worship.
Our Meeting for Worship is held every Sunday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Our worship experience nurtures the bonds within our membership, helps speak to the needs of seekers, and supports our testimonies on peace, justice, the environment, and other social concerns. We provide nursery care for young children and First Day (Sunday) School for older children during Meeting for Worship. The children frequently join the adults for the last fifteen minutes of Meeting for Worship. A small, but enthusiastic group of us gather for hymn singing at 9:30 a.m. During the school year, a student breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m. After Meeting we have light refreshment. Often we hold Forums and Seeker's Sessions providing adult religious education on Quaker history, spiritual life, and our testimonies after our fellowship time.
Like other "unprogrammed" Quaker Meetings, we have no clergy; our members and attenders take responsibility for the life and work of the Meeting.
