Hello Family Overnighters!
Family Overnight is coming up this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited. Unfortunately, we’ve had to make a small change.
As you may or may not have heard, Camp Dark Waters, our location for the overnight, flooded 12 days ago. We’ve been holding out to see if they would be able to host us this coming weekend, and it’s become evident that’s not possible.
So we’ve reached out to the Pinelands Center to be our location for Family Overnight. The Pinelands Center at Mt Misery (and you thought “dark waters” sounded scary!) is just 15 minutes down route 70 from Camp Dark Waters, the closest option we could find. See Pinelands on a map. Pinelands has canoeing, cabins, campfires, outdoor spaces, and worship spaces. The only major programming change will be the cooking- Pinelands runs a certified commercial kitchen, so they have to provide our meals instead of cooking for ourselves.
I am confident that we will have a great time at Pinelands. I’ve been there for other programs, and it’s a good facility. I’m sad to not be able to spend more time at Camp Dark Waters, but it was the most reasonable choice to ensure we have a great overnight.
We still have room, so families are still welcome to register. Though Pinelands is a more expensive camp, the Yearly Meeting is stepping in to cover the difference, and there will be no change in cost to families.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
