“I’ve just got a feeling. It’s gonna be great!” Arthur Larabee, General Secretary of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, stood before his staff during staff meeting with palpable anticipation. He’s excited about Annual Sessions this year, and you should be too! Annual Sessions, taking place July 23rd through 27th, is the gathering of Friends from all over Philadelphia Yearly Meeting at Muhlenberg College for community, business, enrichment and play. For high-school-aged youth Annual Sessions is much like the PYM Young Friend gatherings that happen throughout the year with the added bonus of extra time to really dig into the community! As such, Young Friends do not need a parent in attendance – you are under the care of the Young Friends Program. This year Young Friends will be staying in our own hall on a dorm that’s right off the quad in the center of all the action! We have a lot to look forward to, including swim time with the children’s program, down time in The Red Door (our chill program space), great multigenerational activities, the traditional Glen Onoko Falls hike, and finally, special program time with performer, biblical scholar, gay rights activist and plenary speaker Peterson Tuscano! Registration is open until June 30th and there is full and partial financial aid available for all Young Friends. Check out more information about the Young Friends Program at Annual Sessions and get registered!
