The Young Friends program is excited to welcome Averyl Hall as the new Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program intern for 2012-2013! Averyl came through the PYM Young Friends program, graduated from Westtown School, and went on to attend Earlham College, from which she has recently graduated with a degree in Peace and Global Studies. Averyl finds particular joy in creating and participating in Quaker community, of which she found plenty to occupy her time at Earlham and beyond. A member of Downingtown Monthly Meeting, she most recently worked as high school staff for the Friends General Conference Gathering in summer 2012 and began working as Coordinator for Concord Quarter this fall. She has also been active in the PYM Young Adult Friends program since moving back to the area.
As an ELSP intern, Averyl will attend 3 or more of the weekend-long Young Friend events, reflecting and reporting on her experience as she goes. She will also take on a special project of her choice in service to the Young Friends community. In thanks for her service, she will receive $500 towards her participation in Quaker events – further feeding her passion for Quaker community! For more information about ELSP internships (we’re accepting applications!), visit http://www.pym.org/elsp. The Young Friends Program is excited to have Averyl’s enthusiasm and experience on board – let’s all give her a warm welcome!
