Interim Meeting is responsible for conducting the business of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting between annual sessions. Its basic structure, functions, and responsibilities are outlined in Faith and Practice.
Meetings are held in April, June, September, November, January, and February at Fourth and Arch Street Meetinghouse on a Thursday evening. Most of the members of Interim Meeting are appointed by the Monthly Meetings, with three additional at-large members appointed by the Yearly Meeting and several ex-officio members. All of the meetings of Interim Meeting are open to Friends and attenders of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and visitors from Quaker bodies. In 2003 and 2004, Interim Meeting will meet September 25, October 23, and December 4, January 22, February 26, April 22, May 27 (if needed), and June 24.
At times the clerk of Interim Meeting is charged by the Meeting with sending minutes or other correspondence to Monthly Meetings, Quarterly Meetings, other Yearly Meetings, and government officials and representatives.
