Hospitality and Housing for Annual Sessions 2012
There are several housing options available for Friends traveling from out of town to Annual Sessions 2012 in Philadelphia:
- An effort is underway to organize Radical Hospitality among Philadelphia Friends who would host one or two or more at their own homes this coming summer.
- There will be dorm rooms available for rent at Temple University, including a Family Neighborhhood where families with children will be housed together in one hallway with a central lounge. A shuttle bus will make traveling easier from the Temple Campus to central Philadelphia.
- Friends may also choose to stay at other area facilities, such as Pendle Hill, and local hostels and hotels. A limited number of hotel rooms are available at a discounted rate at the Holiday Inn Express, across the street from Arch Street Meeting House. You must reserve at the Holiday Inn by June 20, however we recommend you reserve as soon as possible! A list of some housing options and contact information is listed at the bottom of this page.
How to sign up for housing:
The Radical Hospitality committee is looking for hosts who are within easy walking, transit, or driving distance to Center City Philadelphia and who would enjoy providing hospitality to others for the 2012 sessions.
They are also collecting names of those who may want to stay with a local Friend. Contact Hollister Knowlton (hollisterknowlton [at] gmail [dot] com) or Paula Cell (hpcell2 [at] gmail [dot] com) to let us know if you’d like to help or what sort of accommodations you need or can offer (i.e. number and size of beds, rooms, access to shared or private bath etc). Click here to read more about Radical Hospitality.
Rooms in dorms at Temple may be reserved during the registration process. Sessions participants will stay together in Residence Hall 1940, right on Liacouris Walk in the heart of campus, close to the dining hall and public transportation. Click here for more about the dorm at Temple.
