Haddonfield Quarterly Mtg Observes World Quaker Day, Sunday, October 1

Uncategorized

Members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) locally and around the world, will celebrate World Quaker Day on Sunday, October 1. This year’s theme set by the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) is “Gathering in Worship Around the Globe.” This observance seeks to unite Friends from different traditions and different countries into one virtual worshipping community.

“There are more than 350,000 members of the Religious Society of Friends in 70-plus countries across the globe,” according to George Rubin of Medford. “As Friends around the world we seek to work together in many practical ways. We meet to share our experiences at the deepest level. We believe in connecting with Friends, crossing cultures and changing lives.”

In South Jersey, Haddonfield Quarterly Meeting connects Friends from Newton Meeting in Camden to the Atlantic City Area Meeting in Galloway, NJ. Other monthly meetings are located in Haddonfield, Medford, Moorestown, Cinnaminson (Westfield Meeting, and Marlton (Cropwell Meeting). Meetings welcome visitors of all faith traditions who are interested in experiencing Quaker worship, which is conducted without a minister or priest. Friends pray in silence, waiting for a message from God that is to be shared with others.

Special activities being held in Haddonfield Quarterly over the weekend of World Quaker Day include:
