Germantown Meeting joins POWER

Uncategorized

At its Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business on Sunday, February 12, 2017, Germantown Meeting approved a proposal from its Racial and Social Justice Committee to become a congregation member of POWER, Philadelphians Organized to Witness, Empower and Rebuild. The meeting had hosted two Adult Classes and a Racial and Social Justice Committee meeting with members of POWER, as well as had invited Sarah Palmer, member of Central Philadelphia Meeting that joined last summer, who outlined its process in deciding to join POWER. The fact that POWER’s goals are in concert with GMM’s concerns for peace and justice in this world, as well as its effective training, advocacy and excellent research, led the decision to join.
