Young Friends gatherings create a fun and vibrant community of high-school-aged Quakers and Quaker-friendly folks!

Young Friends at Spring Continuing Sessions: How does your life speak?

Spring Continuing Sessions begins at the Jewish Community Center in Harrisburg, PA at 8:30am on Saturday March 24. After worship with the body, Young Friends will embark on a day-long program exploring the 2018 Continuing Sessions theme of “How our lives speak.” We’ll consider the values expressed by our daily lives, and have plenty of time for fellowship and community together!

After worship in the morning, Young Friends will be transported to Harrisburg Meeting, where we’ll spend time gathering as a group and preparing to participate in the “March for Our Lives” rally at the state Capitol, which is within walking distance of the meeting. After lunch, we’ll join with Middle School Friends and others interested in this opportunity to witness as part of the national youth movement for gun control. Later in the afternoon, there will be free time and fellowship together.

The gathering ends when Spring Continuing Sessions closes, at 4:00pm, and pick up will be at Harrisburg Meeting.

What to Bring:

Seasonally appropriate clothing (be prepared for the possibility of rain!). We will be walking and travelling outdoors some. Don’t forget any Young Friends Forms you have not yet submitted.

Lunch is included in the registration fee. Please pick up Young Friends on Saturday at Harrisburg Meeting, after the close of Continuing Sessions (at the Jewish Community Center). As you depart, please check out with a staff person.

Financial Aid – Full and partial financial aid is available to all Young Friends for all gatherings. To receive financial aid, simply enter the amount that you can pay in your online registration – the rest will be covered. This financial flexibility is made possible by the generosity of Friends giving to the Yearly Meeting Annual Fund and by two restricted funds: the Sergei Thomas/Haley Yarmark fund, which memorializes two Young Friends who died before their time (1948 and 2007 respectively), and the Tyson scholarship fund.
