Young Friends gatherings create a fun and vibrant community of high-school-aged Quakers and Quaker-friendly folks!

Come join in the weekend of fun and community with Young Friends! Our theme is “Living in the Future.” We’ll start things off on Friday night with games, and review an outline and expectations for the weekend, then head to worship sharing. On Saturday morning, we’ll have a worship experiment and then an activity envisioning Young Friends in the future, followed by Affinity Time (when those with a common interest meet and act around that interest); in the afternoon we’ll have committee time plus free time to explore the city of Haddonfield. In the evening we’ll have time to do some of the work of the community together, and then it’s worship sharing and a dance party! Sunday we’ll pack up, clean the space, and worship with Haddonfield Friends.

What to Bring:

Seasonally appropriate clothing (be prepared for the possibility of rain!); pajamas in which you will be comfortable being seen and others will be comfortable seeing you; a sleeping mat or blow-up mattress, plus pillow, sheets & blankets or sleeping bag; all your normal toiletries. Games, craft projects and musical instruments are also welcome. Don’t forget any Young Friends Forms you have not yet submitted.

Details:

The gathering starts at 7PM on Friday evening. Please come fed – although there will be snacks, no dinner will be served. Parents are welcome to attend Meeting for Worship with Haddonfield Friends Meeting on Sunday morning at 10AM. As you depart, please check out with a staff person, either Hannah or Kody. Please pick up Young Friends by 12PM.

Financial aid – Full and partial financial aid is available to all Young Friends for all gatherings. To receive financial aid, simply enter the amount that you can pay in your online registration – the rest will be covered. This financial flexibility is made possible by the generosity of Friends giving to the Yearly Meeting Annual Fund and by two restricted funds: the Sergei Thomas/Haley Yarmark fund, which memorializes two Young Friends who died before their time (1948 and 2007 respectively), and the Tyson scholarship fund.
