Rocky Mountain
Yearly Meeting of the Friends Church Outgoing Epistle
In a spirit of
expectancy, unity, celebration, and worship, Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting met
in its 4Sth sessions, June 7-9,2002 at Quaker Ridge Camp in Woodland Park,
Colorado. Nearly 200 men, women, and children gathered at the newly remodeled
facility celebrating the hard work and unified effort of the camp staff and
friends of the camp throughout the past year.
The theme for this
yearly meeting was "What in the World is God Doing?" The speakers for
worship sessions enhanced the theme by way of messages and stories about how
God has been at work around the world through their experiences and ministries.
Speakers included Mike Steele (Dawn Ministries), Dick Lawson (Compassion
International), Bob Adhikary (Evangelical Friends Mission/Nepal), and Dr.
Rochunga Pudaite (President, Bibles for the World).
The shortened
yearly meeting format still provided ample time for business, worship,
fellowship, a missions rally and banquet, and a rededication service for the
completion of the Ethel Clark Conference Center at Quaker Ridge. Volunteers Jen
Street, Janette Barber, and Dawn Koreleski planned and directed the Early
Childhood Program and Junior Yearly Meeting. Karen Fulbright with Jimmy and
Ericka Meyer provided leadership for Youth Yearly Meeting.
Several
missionaries and former missionaries through Evangelical Friends Mission were present
at the 2002 sessions. These included Bob and Debbie Adhikary with their
children Sarita and Deepak (Nepal); Carl and Peggy Hunerwadel with children
Kristine, Nathan, and Seth (India); Jeremiah and Elisha Kutz (Rough Rock); and
Mel and Sandy Harrold (Rough Rock).
We were deeply
impacted by the messages of Friends who have recently traveled to other parts
of the world. We were challenged to open our eyes to the needs of our global
brothers and sisters and to pass along the blessings we have received in
Christ.
We know that God
is at work around the world. It is our hope and prayer that God is at work in
each Friends Yearly Meeting and that the love of Christ will continue to draw
us together as participants in God's Kingdom.
