Registration Information
This summer
we are focusing on Earthcare, through speakers,
workshops and sustainability changes to the way we do things
at Sessions – come check it out for yourself!
There will be some workshops and interest groups led by young
adult Friends, a YAF housing cluster & lounge, and some
post-plenary opportunities for us to get together. This is
an important time for our whole Yearly Meeting to come together
as one community, and we get to spend time with lots of different
people, and especially connect with other young adults. Scholarships
are available, so don’t let the cost keep you away!

Friends Epistle August 2008 |
Philadelphia Young
Adult Friends
(PYAF) is
a group of young adult Quakers (roughly 18-35) and Quaker
sympathizers meet together and talk about their experiences
and needs as young adults.
PYAF seeks to share life experiences and attitudes,
and come together as an energetic, supportive community of
seekers. They have a foundation in Quaker principles, ethics,
and practices.
Different people take turns hosting the potluck meals
with fellowship and worship. PYAF gatherings are generally
in the Philadelphia, with occasional events in the suburbs.
To organize a gathering, pick a date and time, and announce
it on the PYAF listserv.
Email pyaf-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
to join the listserv and learn where our next event is.

Whispers
Of Faith
Young Friends Share Their Experiences Of Quakerism
Edited By Geoffrey Black, Zion Klos, Claire Reddy,
Milam Smith, Rachel Stacy
This book is a collection of inspiring, deeply-felt, writing
about young Friends faith life, with sections on worship,
testimonies, spiritual journeys, and walking on water.
"We shared the common experience of trying to make
sense of our religion, of seeking to answer the questions,
'What does Quakerism mean to me, in my heart?' You will
find many different voices in these pages, but above all,
you will find voices of faith. If there is one message
we want this book to convey, it is that young Friends'
voices may not be loud, but we do have things to say,
and we are speaking." - The editors |
Coming
Into Friendship As A Gift
The Journey Of A Young Adult Friend By Christina
Van Regenmorter
By naming the gifts she has received from her meetings,
Christina Van Regenmorter offers a resource both for
young adult Friends and for meetings striving to welcome,
support and nurture the young people in their midst.
Includes queries and a resource list. "If Friends
desire their meeting to be a spiritual community where
love is the first motion and a place where young Friends
feel welcomed, nurtured and supported, prayerful engagement
with this text would be a fruitful place to begin."
- Deborah Shaw, Assistant Director of Friends Center
and Campus Ministry, Guilford College
