The Eco-Justice Working Group (EJWG) joined over 100 exhibitors and vendors at Greenfest Philly, the largest environmental festival in the Philadelphia area on Sunday September 13, 2014. The festival was held at charming historic Headhouse Square.
With perfect weather, Greenfest was a terrific place to spread the word about living simply and sustainably. This year, the EJWG shared information on Friendly Households, how to submit comments to the EPA on their proposed emissions standards, where to sign up for the People’s Climate March, information on divesting from fossil fuels and how to look into solar and other renewable energy sources for your home. Over 50 people signed the Interfaith Statement on Climate Change.
We also offered visitors samples of solar baked brownies and banana bread. Cooking with the sun and learning how to create energy with solar panels were highlights of our display. (See photo below of solar cooker.)
