Young Friends Program

The Charge
Sustained by plenty of laughter and chocolate chip soda bread (vegan, of course), Young Friends and their adult supporters discern leadership and nurturance and plan the vivacious gatherings for high school aged Quakers of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.

The Work

• Camp Onas (A week long YF Session in August) and Camp Swatara (a weekend with Caln Quarter).
• Halloween, Christmas, and February Gatherings at Burlington Conference Center.
• Yearly Meeting Sessions in March and July and Peace Fair in September.
• We welcome all high schoolers to join us in worship sharing, workshops and work crews.  Come to one—or all—of our gatherings!
• We encourage any adult who wishes to find ways to connect with the younger generation to take that bold step and sign up as a Friendly Adult Presence (FAP) for a Young Friends gathering. It is a free experience that is rich with rewards—the rewards of getting to know our PYM teens at an intimate level, really finding out what they’re thinking, how they are struggling and what makes them laugh.
• We are always interested in new workshop and work service opportunities. Share your talents—YF's are a passionate audience. If you have meaningful service opportunities for us, we can be a swarm of worker bees.
