The Charge
The Peace and Concerns Standing Committee embraces a focus on Peace, Justice and an Earth Restored and considers them integral to one another. We nurture and support the membership, work, and mission of the groups under our care. The work of our groups operates across three areas: global, local, and our faith community.
The Work
- To raise awareness of the urgent need for significant and immediate response to climate change and to call on the Yearly Meeting to live in "Right Relationship" with the earth.
- Annual spring Gathering of Friends for Peace & Concerns. The creation of the Hope Bulletin and an email ListServe.
- To support and engage with our affiliated organizations such as American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), Quaker Earthcare Witness, Friends Peace Teams, Center for Conscience & War, and Campaign for a Peace Tax Fund.
- Join the Peace and Concerns Standing Committee. Appointment by the PYM Nominating Committee and membership in PYM is required. You may contact your Quarter Nominating representative.
- Join any of the Working Groups or Granting Groups under Peace and Concerns found at this site: http://www.pym.org/pm/pax.php.
- Help organize faith partners in the continuing struggle against gun violence in our local communities.
