Faith and Play Working Group

The Charge

We support Friends interested in using Godly Play® and Faith & Play, stories of Quaker faith and witness told in the Godly Play® method.   The Montessori-inspired method focuses on building spiritual community with children and offering to them images and language to express their wonder and experience of the Divine.

The Work

• Published the first set of six Faith & Play stories (through FGC Press) in the summer of 2008. Look for it at QuakerBooks.org!
• Offered introductory and training workshops for Friends interesting in using Godly Play® and Faith & Play (monthly and quarterly meetings, at Yearly Meeting Sessions, and for Friends schools), including supporting an FGC-sponsored Pendle Hill workshop in May 2009.
• Wrote, edited and tested additional stories for future publication.
• We are glad to visit Meetings and share: a story, our experiences with the method, and the diverse ways we've found to weave this work into the lives of meeting communities, big and small.
• New members are nominated through the Working Group, and these names are affirmed by the Children’s Spiritual Life Committee.
• Share your ideas for new stories with us.
