Children and youth who attend Annual Sessions actively participate in worship and the business of the Yearly Meeting. Time is spent in both age-specific and multigenerational activities with the whole community.Age specific programs are planned for children from infancy through 5th grade, and for Middle School and Young Friends (High School age).
Children's and youth programs include opportunities for quiet worship and for discernment surrounding their concerns, as well as fun, fellowship and service. Their voices are respected and their concerns may be seasoned and expressed in minutes they deliver to the Yearly Meeting during Plenary Sessions. Each group also prepares an epistle to the Yearly Meeting at the close of sessions. Click these links to read epistles from 2011:
Annual Sessions 2012: Living the Holy Expermiment will be held in Philadelphia, with children's and youth programs in and near Arch Street Meetinghouse and Friends Center. Many families found that the fellowship of living in a Family Neighborhood to be an important part of their experience at Annual Sessions, so this year a family neighborhood, with families housed together in one hallway, will be created on the Temple University campus.
Registration for 2012 Annual Sessions will open in the spring, 2012. Please continue to be on the lookout for updates and announcements on our webpage www.pym.org/annualsessions, or call or e-mail Tricia Coscia, Sessions Coordinator (215) 241-7238, sessions@pym.org for more information.
Parents may also apply for a work grant or scholarship to help offset the cost of attending sessions.
