Rancocas Friends Meeting

Rancocas Friends Meeting is a vibrant congregation of Quakers who gather each Sunday morning for worship in the beautifully preserved Rancocas Friends Meetinghouse on Main Street in the tranquil village of Rancocas, New Jersey. Visitors are always warmly welcomed.

.
A special feature at Rancocas is an extensive library on both current and historical Quaker topics, as well as museum items.

Throughout the year from September through June, everyone is welcome before worship at our study group or business meeting, beginning at 10 am. We share readings and lessons from Scripture and other sources, and consider Quaker witness in our lives - often summed up as "SPICES" - Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship.

Then at 11 am (10 in the summer) we settle into worship. Quaker worship is held in silence. Each person present silently prays, mediatates, or otherwise waits upon the Divine as each feels is appropriate. Some may feel led to stand and speak to share a thought, recollection, observation, or insight with others who are present. Friends hold that such messages arise from Divine leading..

At 12 noon (11 in the summer) the Friend who has been appointed Head of Meeting for this month will turn and shake hands with the next person, and everyone in the Meetinghouse turns and shakes hands with the person sitting on each side, and Meeting is over. Announcements will be made and visitors made welcome.

After rise of Meeting, Rancocas Friends offer hospitality and serve light refreshments. Members of Meeting will be available to talk with visitors as they also share fellowship with each other. Such gatherings help visitors to get to know Friends, and also build community among Quakers - fellowship helps us know each other, and to share our experiences in the world.
