Middle Schoolers at Sessions

Annual sessions is the gathering of Friends from all over Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to play together and do the work of our community. Middle School Friends (including rising 6th graders!) will have our own fantastic gathering within this larger group, including lots of hang-time, workshops, a hiking field trip and pool time!

Middle School Friends have it all at Annual Sessions! In addition to the fun we have swimming, hiking, and playing group games, we also engage in worship, fellowship and discernment with our peers. “MSFers” also have the care of evening vespers for the whole community. Each year this is a way for us to highlight the wisdom and creativity of our awesome group.

Middle School Friends will spend most of each day in their age-specific program, and will join the larger community for meals and some of the Annual Sessions programs. At night, Middle Schoolers stay on campus with their families.

What to Bring

The following list will give you an idea of what you’ll need to bring for our time together in the Middle School Friends Program at Annual Sessions. The definitive list will come to you in the Final Details email a few weeks before Annual Sessions begins. Remember, Middle School Friends stay with families overnight.

  • Clothing: Bring clothes to keep you comfortable in the heat and the AC! Also bring clothes and shoes that are appropriate for things like outdoor play and hiking. Sturdy sneakers or hiking boots are necessary for the outing, as well as a day pack / bag. You’ll need a bathing suit for the pool and pajamas in which you’ll be comfortable being seen (and others will be comfortable seeing you!).
  • Toiletries: Bring all your regular stuff as well as shower necessities (like a towel!) and sunscreen.
  • Other: Flashlight & batteries, games, craft materials and musical instruments are all appropriate to bring along!

Getting There

Annual Sessions takes place at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ..  We encourage carpooling and will send out a list of registrants and departure points with the Final Details email in early July.

Arrival and Departure

Those attending full-time should plan to arrive at TCNJ between 3pm and 4pm on July 26- more details on the check-in will be provided closer to the event.
