Meet Emma, New Youth Programs Intern!

Young Friends

Friends, meet Emma Hohenstein, our new Youth Programs Intern for the Young Friends program! A native Philadelphian, Emma became a convinced Friend at the age of 5, when she came home from Frankford Friends School and made it clear that she and her family would start attending Meeting. They have been regulars at Frankford Friends Meeting ever since. These days Emma is finishing up her degree at Maryland Institute College of Art. A photographer, she is focusing on Quakers and meeting houses around the nation for her thesis. Emma comes to Young Friends with plenty of energy for Quaker community and youth work, which she has nurtured throughout the years as a frequent care-taker of younger siblings and cousins, a counselor at Camp Onas, a First Day School teacher, and an adult presence in the Children’s Religious Life Program of PYM. Emma is excited to learn about community organization, program design, and the larger PYM community as an intern in the Young Friends program. She looks forward to giving back to the Quaker community that nurtured her through her teens.
